A Systematic Review of the Transthoracic Impedance during Cardiac Defibrillation
For cardiac defibrillator testing and design purposes, the range and limits of the human TTI is of high interest. Potential influencing factors regarding the electronic configurations, the electrode/tissue interface and patient characteristics were identified and analyzed. A literature survey based on 71 selected articles was used to review and assess human TTI and the influencing factors found. The human TTI extended from 12 to 212 [Formula: see text] in the literature selected. Excluding outliers and pediatric measurements, the mean TTI recordings ranged from 51 to 112 [Formula: see text] with an average TTI of 76.7 [Formula: see text] under normal distribution. The wide range of human impedance can be attributed to 12 different influencing factors, including shock waveforms and protocols, coupling devices, electrode size and pressure, electrode position, patient age, gender, body dimensions, respiration and lung volume, blood hemoglobin saturation and different pathologies. The coupling device, electrode size and electrode pressure have the greatest influence on TTI
-factor anisotropy in nanowire-based InAs quantum dots
The determination and control of the electron -factor in semiconductor
quantum dots (QDs) are fundamental prerequisites in modern concepts of
spintronics and spin-based quantum computation. We study the dependence of the
-factor on the orientation of an external magnetic field in quantum dots
(QDs) formed between two metallic contacts on stacking fault free InAs
nanowires. We extract the -factor from the splitting of Kondo resonances and
find that it varies continuously in the range between and 15.Comment: 2 pages, 2 figure
Analysis of the business strategy of First Light Travel in terms of sustainability
Sustainability issues become worldwide more important in various different sectors, also the tourism industry is part of this movement. Tourism has grown immensely during the last decades and has established itself as an important economic sector worldwide. Tourism businesses have impacts on the economy, communities and the environment and should thus revise their business strategies to keep them positive. The objective of this paper is to assess First Light Travel (FLT), an inbound tour operator located in Auckland, New Zealand in terms of sustainability
Elaboration of a catalogue of measures to decrease touristic climate impact: Developed for the Switzerland Travel Centre UK
This study analyses how a tour operator can decrease the touristic climate impact by an elaborated catalogue of measures, whereby each measure is analysed by means of different criteria as to their effectiveness and market acceptance. The measures serve as a basis for recommendations to the Switzerland Travel Centre in London, UK. An approach of literature research and qualitative research, in form of expert interviews, was adopted. The theoretical part of this study points out that the carbon dioxide emissions are at the highest levels and the world hottest global temperatures have been recorded during the last years
Non-local spectroscopy of Andreev bound states
We experimentally investigate Andreev bound states (ABSs) in a carbon
nanotube quantum dot (QD) connected to a superconducting Nb lead (S). A weakly
coupled normal metal contact acts as a tunnel probe that measures the energy
dispersion of the ABSs. Moreover we study the response of the ABS to non-local
transport processes, namely Cooper pair splitting and elastic co-tunnelling,
that are enabled by a second QD fabricated on the same nanotube on the opposite
side of S. We find an appreciable non-local conductance with a rich structure,
including a sign reversal at the ground state transition from the ABS singlet
to a degenerate magnetic doublet. We describe our device by a simple rate
equation model that captures the key features of our observations and
demonstrates that the sign of the non-local conductance is a measure for the
charge distribution of the ABS, given by the respective Bogoliubov-de Gennes
amplitudes and
